when cas finds dean and mary back at the bunker, dean immediately wraps cas in a hug while he frantically tells dean about what happened to him and sam. mary quietly watches them embrace and smiles to herself. when they break apart, dean’s cheeks have a rosy tint as he quickly stumbles through introducing cas to mary. cas originally offers his hand, but mary gently pushes his hand down, quickly wrapping him in a hug and thanking him for watching over her boys. cas just blinks, still for a moment before softly saying ‘you’re welcome’ to mary and looking over her shoulder at dean, who looks like he’s tearing up while a smile crosses his lips.

after mary breaks away from cas, she turns to dean and places her hands on her hips, ‘honey, i need to change but then we’re going to find sam and i’m going to kick that woman’s ass if she so much as harmed a hair on my baby’s head’ and briskly walks down to hall to find herself a change of clothes. dean turns to cas, who is sporting the same comically wide-eyed expression as himself. ‘you up to ridin’ shotgun?’

cas smiles and nods, ‘of course, dean.’
